Finally a class that you know you have brought the right things for! In this fun-filled class, a kit of CUT fabrics is furnished. This is a wonderful group workshop for those that just want to sew and not have any cutting or thinking to do.

This class is the most popular class Charlotte offers and is a favorite in Houston. It fills quickly and is a SURPRISE in more ways than one. It is a mystery type class. No one gets any hints and yet those who take the class will want to take another. Each class is a different quilt. Rarely are the kits repeated. All kits in class are the same, there is no choice for the students. A relaxed day of laughter and sewing. Kit fee of $95 payable to the instructor at the time of the class includes all fabrics and materials needed for your quilt.

112 STRING PIECED/SCRAPPY PINEAPPLES with Nancy Bills

The Pineapple pattern lends itself beautifully to a scrappy mix of fabrics, but this class takes that one step further by adding string piecing to the mix. With Nancy's technique for making a Pineapple block that requires no foundations (even for the string piecing) and no Pineapple-only ruler, you can design your own quilt or wall hanging with as much or as little string piecing as you want. Add to this a simple serpentine border and you've got a one-of-a-kind quilt! The class project is a 4-block wall hanging, but you can choose to make it larger if you want. The four blocks can be totally or partially string pieced or just plain scrappy. It's your choice. In addition, the quilt can be finished in a number of ways to make it unique. Some examples are pictured here. You can also view more examples at Nancybills.com: look in the Gallery under Quilt Odyssey 2015 - String Pieced Pineapple for additional photos and a more detailed explanation of your options.

114 MYSTERY: HOW AH'YA?

No pix here - that would be peeking! But you know that Linda's mystery quilts are fabulous! For this one, you will be selecting 3 fabrics - light, medium and dark in one color family. Of course, you can veer from what Linda suggests - it's your quilt (i.e., two color families). It's a fun quilt, lots of great techniques and we know you'll enjoy piecing it. Book fee of $5 payable to the instructor at the time of the class.

PLEASE NOTE: Elna has graciously given us the use of their machines for this class, so you will not have to bring your machine as the supply list indicates! These machines will be for sale at a special price with a msrp between $600 and $900. Now is the time to check out Elna and see why so many teachers prefer them!

Here are some ideas for the fabric selection:

Light: can be used as background, corner squares, Border #1. Should be tone on tone, small nondescript print, texture, solid. You could use a white/cream/natural and not necessarily a light in the color family you're working in. This is not recommended for a directional fabric.

Medium: this is used in the block, in the sashing and as Border #3. It is not recommended for a directional fabric and could be a small to medium size print but compact, texture or nondescript. It should be a medium value in the color family you're using.

Dark: this is used in the block and as Border #2. Should be a medium sized print but compact, texture, or nondescript. Not recommended for a directional fabric and should be dark in value for the color family you're using.

Pre-cutting is necessary for this class. Any questions? Please contact Linda at linda@letsquilt.com
